HELP Clinic
H.E.L.P. Clinic-the Homeless Clinic, a project of the Richland County Bar Association Pro Bono Committee is conducted from 8:30-10 am on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at Transitions. Room 393 6:30-8:30 Training for volunteers interested in helping victims of violent crime apply for a "U' visa. Working in teams of two, one who speaks Spanish, volunteers working under the direction of a local immigration attorney will help the client develop the important affidavit necessary to complete a successful "U" visa application. The time commitment is approximately two afternoon visits with the client in the attorneys office.

SC Appleseed Legal justice Center in partnership with area lawyers and the Bryan Veterans Hospital present a once a month legal clinic for veterans. Issues that are handled include family law, expungements, and wills. No veterans claims will be handled. Law students assist with the on site intake of the previously screened clients. My Will is a joint project presented by the SC Bar Pro Bono Program, the Central Midlands Office on Governments- Office on Aging and the Law School Pro Bono Program. The goal is to provide simple wills to low income senior citizens. Clients are prescreened and complete a questionnaire before arriving at their appointment. Volunteer attorneys, assisted by law students prepare and execute a simple will. Law students also serve as the witnesses in the execution process. This project is…
